NLV Cease Campaign For Change
Tuesday 4th October

As from today North London Valiants will cease its campaigning for change within the board room of Port Vale. We acknowledge that change has happened albeit not what we had envisaged and we recognise that the old board has all but disappeared. We will be satisfied when Bill Bratt and Glenn Oliver finally leave the Port Vale board as promised. We also believe that Robbie Williams's proxy should be utilised to have a fans representative at board level. If Mark Sims feels he cannot accept a position then the proxy should be passed on to a candidate who is democratically elected by the Port Vale Supporters Club.
As the various new investors of the club in conjunction with the old board directors hold the power of the club, the majority of shareholders are powerless to bring about further change. Port Vale in our mind is not a fan owned club and we have come to accept that the future of the club is beyond the fans or shareholders control. This is a hard reality to accept especially considering the original ethos of V2001, but we feel there is no other options available at this point.

NLV have tried to act with honesty and integrity and have always challenged what we believed to be dishonest and unethical and we only ever embarked on this campaign for the betterment of Port Vale FC, its shareholders and its fans.

From the beginning of this process all NLV wanted to do was act as a voice for the shareholders, via the Shareholders Consultation and the EGM. We have worked with all the pro-change groups in trying to bring about positive change within the board room. The objectives set out by the pro-change movement are part complete and realise that many will not be happy with the situation. However, there is little else to do other than monitor the situation and hope that the board will deliver on greater clarity, transparency, consultation and professionalism in the future, something that the club has failed in over the last eight years or so.

As fans and shareholders we have proven that we are a powerful force for change and have achieved so much in twelve months, something we would not hesitate in doing again should we feel it appropriate. We all reserve the right to act as shareholders and fans as we individually see fit.

There have been many disagreements amongst Vale fans over the course of the year and this has split the unity of the fan base, something that no one on both sides of the debate set out to do. We feel that the time has come to forget our political differences and try and move forward together.

Whatever our individual stances regarding attending Vale Park, I think the team needs our support to push for the play-offs and possible promotion. NLV wishes the very best for Micky Adams and the team in achieving success this year.
